Paint Out 2015

The Arts District of Glens Falls plans the second annual Paint Out on Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.!

Paint Out

Families and artists of all skill levels are invited to Glens Falls City Park for two coinciding outdoor art events taking place from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.

Paint Out, now in its second year, encourages artists to bring their palettes, easels, chairs, brushes and talent to Glens Falls to go outside and paint what inspires them.

Artists are welcome to participate in a charitable art show where work created as part of Paint Out will be hung for display at the Wood Theater from August 12 – September 25. 50% of proceeds from the sale of the art will go back to the artist and the other fifty percent will benefit The Arts District of Glens Falls, the group responsible for organizing the event. This is optional but suggested.

Participating artists can drop off their work at LARAC during Paint Out or to the Wood Theater by 5:00 pm on August 11. All work must be unframed. If the work is on canvas, it must be wired in the back to hang for display. Advance registration is preferred but not required. Contact Erin Coon at the Charles R. Wood Theater at (518) 798-9663 ext. 1 or erin@woodtheater.org.

Sing Out

This year, Paint Out has been expanded to include Sing Out which welcomes acoustic musicians to tour to several Glens Falls locations. All professional, intermediary or beginning musicians are invited to participate. All genres of music are welcome. Musicians should prepare 20 minute sets and plan to participate in Sing Out for 1 and a half hours. Advance registration for Sing Out is required for scheduling purposes. Interested musicians should contact Chris Reed at the Glens Falls Music Academy at (518) 832-1404 or chris@glensfallsusicacademy.com.

Chalk Fest

Art in the Public Eye‘s Chalk Fest is an annual event that encourages participants to get messy while creating chalk art on the sidewalks all around City Park! Plus, Happy Face FX (PJ Duell), aka the best facepainter in the area, will be there creating works of art on the faces of children who visit his tent. Advance registration is encouraged but not necessary. A $10 registration fee reserves a sidewalk square and includes high quality artist chalk pastels and a bottle of water.
